Plaza 2006 Building, Brock University

St. Catharines, Canada

This was an 80,000 sq. ft. building for which we provided complete MEP Consulting Services. Key elements of the building include computer labs and academic offices. Key departments housed in the facility include the Brock Research Institute for Youth Studies (BRIYS), Hormone and Brain Development Research, Infancy Research, and Neuropsychology /Psychophysiology Labs

The building employs the Termodeck® technology for heating and cooling. Air is passed through the hollow core slab thus providing a passageway for air and also taking advantage of the thermal storage effect.

Other sustainable features include heat recovery, CO2 control of fresh air, occupancy sensors for lighting control, displacement ventilation, building automation system, rainwater collection, water-conserving plumbing fixtures with infrared sensors, etc. This project has achieved LEED Silver Certification.
